There are no concrete details yet on what the news will cover, but many fans are looking forward to the opportunity to find out more about the Swordsmith Village arc (Season 3). The upcoming season, titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Swordsmith Village Arc, was originally announced after Season 2 (Entertainment District arc) ended in February. Two months later, in April this year, a new trailer and keynote were unveiled, which you can watch below. The studio will be responsible for the animation production of Ufotable Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Swordsmith Village Ark.
Demon slayer anime
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Entertainment District Arc (Season 2) began airing in December 2021 and ran for 11 episodes ending in February 2022. The season is currently the second highest rated anime of the year on both MyAnimeList (8.84) and AnimeList (88%), sitting behind Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Season 3 on both sides. But this is just the tip of the iceberg of the anime series’ recent success.
The movie The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Train became the highest-grossing anime film of all time and is nowhere near that. The cult film grossed over $500 million at the worldwide box office and nearly $3 million in Blu-ray DVD sales. For comparison, Spirited Away is the second highest grossing film of all time at $395 million. More recently, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 became the film based on a series that came closest to the film’s tally, grossing $196 million worldwide. You want even more perspective? One Piece: The Film Raid (2022) is the highest-grossing film in the entire iconic One Piece anime franchise, reaching only US$129 million.
That’s not even counting the 16 awards Demon Slayer: Kimestu no Yaiba – Infinity Train has won. The anime series has become so popular that a recent survey found that 19% of Japanese households are watching Demon Slayer, the equivalent of 10 million citizens. And it gets even crazier. Oricon released a survey in 2020 showing that over 90% of the public in Japan is at least familiar with Demon Slayer, no doubt in what has become the most popular anime series of all time.
Demon hunter manga
Written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge, Demon Slayer began its successful journey when it was first published in Weekly Shnen Jump magazine in 2016. The series officially ended in 2020 with Chapter 201 (Volume 23). The American publisher VIZ Media also printed all editions in English. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba currently has over 150 million copies distributed as of October 22, making it the ninth best-selling manga of all time.
The manga has also won 7 awards in its four years, including Book of the Year at the Da Vinci Annual Book of the Year Awards 2020. The series also won 11 individual awards for its characters at the Animedia Character Awards 2019, making it the most. The award given to a series in a single year in the history of anime, a record that still stands today.
